WPRP events bring widowed families together for fun, fellowship, and the reminder that they're not alone. From our annual Family Friendzy to seasonal gatherings and fundraisers, every event creates space for healing and hope.

Understanding You, Understanding Them: Personality, Parenting & Grief: Join our discussion with Kelsie Orrico, a certified family therapist, as we explore how understanding personality types can give us greater insight into ourselves and our children—especially as we navigate grief together.
Widowed Parent Night Out Painting Party
For all widowed parents in Knoxville area; Parents will enjoy a painting class onsite while children are care for! Children ages 0-4 will have childcare in the YMCA Child Watch Center, and 5-10 year olds will have swim time with lifeguards in the pool while parents are onsite in other room enjoying a painting class together. Having a support system can significantly impact your mental health. It allows you to share experiences, seek advice, and find comfort in knowing you are not alone. Wednesday Win(e)d down
A night to wind down with other widowed parents. Pop in and enjoy some conversation, share some stories, talk fun or talk real - just be you. It's a time to find some company with others who understand the storm of solo parenting.

Our signature event
Family Friendzy is WPRP's annual celebration - a day entirely dedicated to community coming together with widowed families to celebrate life, have fun, connect, and show families they are not alone.
What to expect
Backyard skills games, fun (and sometimes fierce!) competition, inflatables and games for kids of all ages, free food and refreshments, face painting and activities, entertainment, and much more!
Why Family Friendzy matters
For many widowed families, this is a moving moment in which they can tangibly see that they are not alone. Community members of all ages come to honor loved ones who have passed, institute team bonding admist their company or own family, and a blast of a time is had in competing for the beloved title and trophy, "Knoxville Village Champs".
