Real Needs, Real Prayers

Whether you can meet a physical need, lift up a prayer request, or simply want to celebrate what God is doing, every bit of support means the world to the families we walk beside.

Parent Needs

Meet a Real Need

These are specific, tangible needs shared by parents we walk beside every day. Even a small gift can make an immediate, lasting difference for a family navigating loss.

Current needs include:

Bed and mattress needed for teen boy, located in west Knoxville.

Four males standing side by side inside a room with wooden bunk beds, with a young child climbing on the lower bunk bed on the left; Super Mario Bros. Movie and Pokémon posters on the wall behind them, blue curtains covering a window.

Organization Needs

Support the Work Itself

Caring well for widowed families takes more than good intentions, it takes people willing to show up consistently. These are the ways our organization needs support right now, from volunteers to partners who help sustain the work.

Here's what's needed:

Looking for a volunteer (in office and/or work from home) to assist with data entry, social media / newsletter, and other technology support. (Estimated 4 hours a week.)   WPRP'S office is located in West Knoxville and is an in-home office.

Family Friend volunteers needed in the greater Knoxville, Maryville, and Oak Ridge, TN, areas! If you have a heart to listen or walk alongside a parent, please complete our Family Friend Application.

Prayer Requests

Come, Holy Spirit!

Grief does not wait for a convenient season, and neither should prayer. These are the real burdens our families and staff are carrying this month, offered honestly so you can carry them with us.

Please join us in praying for:

Alleviate compassion fatigue in Family Friends and staff.

That the Lord will break the chains of depression for a teenager.

Wisdom for parents struggling with teens shutting down.

Pour out your grace for joy, peace, and comfort amidst delivery of new baby after loss of spouse.

Let suicide survivors find peace with you, and provide guidance in navigating it all with their children.

Provide safe travels and many blessings for families over the summer. Offer renewal and rest.

For protection of WPRP families and the organization as a whole.

Prayer Praises

We Praise You, Lord!

In the middle of grief, we have also seen God show up again and again, often through people like you. These are the answered prayers and quiet mercies we want to celebrate together.

We're celebrating:

Knoxville Catholic High School's graciousness in hosting the Friendzy.

A successful Family Friendzy event!

For providing the words needed to comfort a confused parent.

For Home Depot, who provided many needs for a parent this month.

The generosity of donors meeting parents' needs.

A Family Friend stepping in at just the right time and place.
